The West Zen (West End near Brown Middle School, and near the Wren’s Nest)
This work begins on the outdoor stage at the Wren’s Nest. Dancers and musicians lead the audience on a short walk through residential West End neighborhoods to a large paved setting on or near nearby Brown Middle School, which is on the Beltline. Dancers use white sand to create a fleeting piece of visual art. Behind them, dancers with brooms sweep rhythmically, dissolving the lines and eventually leaving behind an enlivened space scoured clean for whatever may come next. The artists lead a procession back to the Wren’s Nest for a party.

The GCO invites you to be a part of their spectacular featured concert of the season! The highlight will be a new audio-visual experience integrated into the GCO’s performance of Grofe’s Grand Canyon Suite along with other treasured American pieces and the ever-popular annual “Walk Through the Orchestra."

The concert will be part of a multidimensional event presented in collaboration with the GCO, the UF Geology Department, the Harn Museum of Art and Florida Museum of Natural History. The festival extending throughout the UF Cultural Plaza will include exhibits by local artists, fascinating historical and geologic exhibits displaying the beauty of America’s landscape.
